SCI Life member (Paul) Scott Franklund, 56, passed away of natural causes at his home Jan. 9, 2015.
He was an avid sportsman and loved traveling the world in search of world record trophy animals. His travels took him to places as far as Alaska’s Aleutian Islands, Canada’s Yukon Territory, Zambia in Central Africa, and his favorite South African safaris on multiple occasions.
Scott leaves behind his wife, Jill; daughters, Savannah (15) and Skye (9) of Longmont; father, Paul, and sisters, Diane and Karlin, of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette.
Safari Club International mourns the loss of a Life Member and good friend Dick Cabela. He was the epitome of the American bootstrap businessman, growing a billion dollar business from its humble beginnings selling fishing flies from a kitchen table mail order company. Dick was a staunch supporter of Safari Club and was recognized by Safari Club in 2001 for his dedication to the preservation of our hunting heritage. Safari Club extends its heartfelt sympathies to the Cabela family for their loss.
