Global Rescue Extracts Members From Egypt

egypt-073113By the time the US State Department announced that all non-essential US citizens leave Egypt following the resignation of former President Muhammed Morsi, Global Rescue’s security personnel had been on the ground for nearly a week, advising its members and preparing evacuation routes.

During that time, protests coordinated by supporters and opponents of President Morsi led to massive rallies and violence that resulted in a number of deaths, including that of at least one American.

To support its clients, Global Rescue’s on-the-ground security specialists directed communication between members and their home organizations.  Global Rescue’s members–including a number of individual travelers, students participating in study abroad programs, and corporations–all received detailed security advice from our deployed operators.

Throughout this entire period, Global Rescue’s intelligence analysts provided its personnel with detailed reports on developments throughout the area, which were quickly shared with each of Global Rescue’s members in the region.  Global Rescue’s security advice included information on planned demonstration locations and actionable recommendations for traveler safety.

Faced with the possibility of continued instability, Global Rescue prepared evacuation resources and established unique rally points for each of its members and clients in the region.

On July 7, Global Rescue’s security personnel escorted approximately sixty members to a privately chartered aircraft and evacuated them to safety.

Important Thompson/Center Arms Safety Recall

Thompson/Center Arms has identified a condition that may cause the safety lever on certain ICON, VENTURE and DIMENSION rifles to bind, preventing the safety from becoming fully engaged.  In this situation, closing the bolt may move the safety to the fire position.  The rifle will not fire unless the trigger is pulled.  However, out of an abundance of caution, we are taking this action to recall the rifles so that the firearm can be inspected by our technicians to ensure that the safety lever functions as designed.

This recall applies to all ICON, VENTURE and DIMENSION rifles manufactured by Thompson/Center Arms prior to June 13, 2013.

STOP USING YOUR RIFLE AND RETURN IT TO THOMPSON/CENTER AT ONCE.

Because the safety of our customers is our utmost concern, we ask that you stop using your rifle until we have an opportunity to inspect the safety lever to ensure its proper function.
